Xiaomi's bezel-less Mi Mix took the entire smartphone industry by storm with its insane 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone will soon be getting a successor in the form of Mi Mix 2. One of Xiaomi’s Chief Executive recently confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 is in the works and will be designed by the French designer, Phillipe Starck, who was also the designer behind the Mi Mix.
For years now, smartphone vendors were trying to up the design game by delivering a 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, but not many of them succeeded except for Xiaomi. Although at the time of Mi Mix launch, Xiaomi claimed that the phone boasts of an insane 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio, but several popular blogs such as GSMArena confirmed that the phone’s display comes with just 84.16 screen-to-body ratio, which is also way higher than any other smartphone till date.
In the latest reports about the Mi Mix 2, there are many rumours regarding the display of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, which is slated to release later this year. Going by the rumours, the Mi Mix 2 is tipped to come with 93 percent screen-to-body ratio, which is by far the highest seen on any smartphone.
Given the fact that LG, Samsung is going with a wide display of 18:9 aspect ratio packing larger displays in a compact form factor, Xiaomi will be expected to take on them with the Mi Mix 2. Also, the same rumor claims that Xiaomi will be using an AMOLED panel in the Mi Mix 2 to compete with the rivals.
The Mi Mix 2 will also be made available in the Ceramic version, which means that the phone will be sold in limited quantities, just like its predecessor.
Currently, there’s no information on other specifications of the phone. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is expected to arrive sometime later this year.
