Xiaomi Mi.com Store Receives Top Spot for Single Brand Online Smartphone Channel by Counterpoint

The smartphone market in India is dominated by the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi wholly. The OEM came off as the top smartphone maker in India last year owing to its massive sales of affordable devices. The brand is also a top name when it comes to selling TVs as well. Now the brand has announced that its online selling channel Mi.com has gained the top spot as a single brand online smartphone channel as per Counterpoint Research Market Monitor for Q1 2019 with 11% market share. It is also worth noting that Xiaomi’s popular e-commerce platform is the only exclusive brand website to be leading this category, with Mi.com purely selling Xiaomi products which differentiates it from other online selling channels like, Flipkart and Amazon, implement a multi-brand approach.




Mi.com Now Boasting of 3 Million Daily Active Users

Since Xiaomi forayed into the market in May 2015, the company has witnessed a massive rise in users and now boasts of up to 3 million daily active users and over 40 million monthly active users on its online selling platform, mi.com. Till now, the highest count that Xiaomi has achieved is over 5.5 million daily active users in a day in the last one year. Xiaomi has said that its soaring popularity in the country is courtesy of its effective online sales strategy which has led to Xiaomi achieving 8 million paid customers since its inception and 24 million Mi Store app installs.

Xiaomi’s Mi.com gives its customers direct access and opportunity to buy its products with convenience while enjoying seamless brand experience across three dimensions. Xiaomi has also boasted of best in class service with the brand catering to over 17,000 pincodes in India. Xiaomi also has 10 warehouses across the country. It also offers Mi Express Delivery service where consumers on orders placed before 2 PM can pay a minimal fee of INR 49 and enjoy next day delivery, which is currently available in 17 pincodes. The brand also offers a 2 day delivery period in metro cities, and a four day delivery period across the country.

Xiaomi Mi.com Value Added Features

Some more features of the Mi.com include an integrated Mi community section which makes it easier for the customers to engage with the brand. There is also a dedicated Discover tab on Mi Store app where users can consume an endless stream of content right from unboxing videos, product videos, quality tests etc. Mi Crowdfunding is also another app by Xiaomi, which is used to gauge the demand of a particular product in India which is under evaluation. Till date, Xiaomi has conducted 6 successful crowdfunding programs which have witnessed nearly 300% success rate with each product. For example, Mi LED Smart Bulb overachieved its crowdfunding target with 390% success.

There are also some value-added services on Mi.com like Mi exchange, and this one allows Mi Fans to purchase an exchange coupon with a two-week validity enabling them to redeem it during any sale. The brand also offers other services like Mi Protect, Mi TV Extended Warranty and Mi Gift Card.
