Amid all the speculations, Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 6 a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, that was the only model the Apple of East unveiled at the event leaving all the phablet lovers, Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus in this case disappointed.
The smartphone was initially rumoured to be launched alongside the Mi 6 during the April 19 event. That clearly, didn’t happen. And now, the Mi 6 Plus has been spotted online in a new leak. PlayfulDroid yesterday confirmed that the Mi 6 Plus, bearing the model number MDE40 has been certified by Chinese 3C authority hinting that its launch is imminent.
Pan Jio Ting, a prominent Chinese analyst further adds that the company will unveil the smartphone in “about two months.”
While the listing doesn’t reveal much information about the device except for the model number, we already have a fair idea of what to expect from the handset courtesy previous leaks.
Going by the rumours, the Mi 6 Plus will boast a 5.7-inch QHD display with curved edges. Akin to its younger brother, the smartphone will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset under-the-hood.
It is expected to pack 6GB of RAM and is believed to come in two storage variants: 64GB and 128GB. A few rumours were suggesting that the smartphone will also get a 256GB variant. But, at this point, we can’t confirm the existence of a 256GB variant.
The Mi 6 Plus is tipped to carry the same 12MP dual camera setup on the back and an 8MP sensor at the front as seen on the Mi 6. Xiaomi followed Apple’s implementation of dual cameras on the Mi 6. We can assume the same to repeat with the Plus variant as well.
The smartphone should offer standard connectivity options which include Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and the like. It will most likely have the same fate as the Mi 6 as far as the 3.5mm headphone jack is concerned.
It will, of course, run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the company’s own MIUI on top. A 4,500mAh battery is expected to provide fuel for the entire package.
As mentioned earlier, the Mi 6 Plus could launch by the end of Q2. Also, the company may unveil the much-rumored Mi Max 2 at the same time as well.
