Xiaomi Mi 5 to go official in India on March 31, expected to be priced below Rs. 27,000

After a wait of almost a month, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is all set to go official in India on March 31. The company has already started sending media invites for the event. The Xiaomi Mi 5 garnered massive response from the buyers in China, and now company is expecting a similar response in India.

Xiaomi has only revealed the launch schedule, it has not given any hint regarding the Mi 5's pricing and availability in India. Although various reports hinted that the device might be priced below Rs. 27,000. Interestingly, the Mi 5 will be Xiaomi's first device to be available to the international buyers as well. The device is up for pre-ordering on GearBest.

Several variants of the Xiaomi Mi 5 are up for sale in China. The 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants featuring 3D Glass back, 128GB internal storage variant featuring 3D Ceramic body. However, the 128GB storage variant is less likely to be launched in India anytime soon. Additionally, the 32GB storage variant comes with 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 SoC with 3GB of RAM, while the 64GB variant bears 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset with 3GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with 5.15-inch Full HD display with 1080p resolution, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 7. The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner, which is embedded into the Home Button. It sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with features such as 4K video recording functionality, four-axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. There is a 4-megapixel selfie camera onboard. In the connectivity department, the phone supports dual-SIM, 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, IR Blaster, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
