Why is Reliance Touting All Their Lyf Smartphones as ‘Future Ready’ Phones?

4G in India has come a long way. A couple of years ago owning a 3G smartphone is a big thing. But, the scenario today is entirely different. Almost every smartphone released today in India has support for 4G LTE, and with the introduction of Reliance Jio, India has seen a new technology in the form of VoLTE.

Lyf Smartphones as Future Ready Phones

Reliance Industries, the Mukesh Ambani-led company, is offering free 4G services from the past four months to all the users in India. With the increasing craze to 4G network, it was reportedly said that the sales of 4G phones in India have increased by nearly 40 percent.

Reliance officially sells their Lyf branded phones in India with extra goodies and interestingly, the company touts them as ‘Future Ready’ phones. However, these Lyf phones are not powerful as other smartphones available in the same price range. But, why does Reliance call them as future ready phones? Here’s the answer.

Reliance started manufacturing these phones especially to offer seamless 4G internet connectivity for users. As you might be aware of the fact that several operators all over the world have already started testing LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network, which will be an upgrade to the existing 4G LTE network.

The LTE-Advanced is expected to be much-improved ones when compared to the current generation technology. The technology uses relay nodes, carrier aggregation, and other technologies to improve the network frequency.

That said, smartphones should have support for an additional node to support this LTE-A system, much like what happened to 3G phones when 4G phones came out. All the recently released Lyf phones have support for this LTE-A network, which means that you can use the Lyf phone when the LTE-A officially rolls out.

Also, Reliance Jio Infocomm has already started testing the carrier aggregation in several areas of the country and is expected to roll out the LTE-A network in coming months or by May 2017. So, this is only advantage with the Lyf smartphones.
