Vodafone Introduces Rs 549 and Rs 799 Prepaid Plans Offering 3.5GB and 4.5GB Data Per Day

Vodafone India has rolled out new high-speed combo packs. The telco announced the launch of two new monthly prepaid packs starting at Rs 549 and Rs 799 to counter the rivals Airtel and Reliance Jio. Both the plans offer better data benefit that Airtel’s Rs 549 and Rs 799 plans, but falls slightly short of Jio’s Rs 509 and Rs 799 plans. As of now, Vodafone’s Rs 549 and Rs 799 plans are currently available in select circles only, but are expected to be launched in other regions soon. However, no information is available as to when Vodafone may actually launch these plans in other circles.

Vodafone Rs 549 Prepaid Plan

As we reported a couple of days, with the Rs 549 prepaid bonus card, Vodafone offers 98 GB for 28 days with a daily limit of 3.5GB data per day. The combo plan also gives unlimited voice calling to users, with free local/STD calls with roaming included. Subscribers also get the benefit of 100 texts/SMS per day.

Vodafone Rs 549 prepaid recharge plan is the answer to Jio’s Rs 509 combo pack that offers 4GB of daily data usage. The company is offering a total of 112GB of 4G high-speed internet for a validity period of 28 days. Similarly, included in the plan is unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calling and 100 SMS per day.

Vodafone Rs 799 Prepaid Plan

The Rs 799 plan also comes with the same validity of 28 days, but on the data front, it offers whopping 4.5 GB of daily data usage. Under the plan, Vodafone will be offering 126GB data in total for 28 days. In addition, users will also get additional benefits like unlimited local/STD and roaming calls and 100 SMS free per day.

This plan competes directly with Jio’s Rs 799 plan which offers a total of 140GB of 4G data, with a 5GB daily usage limit. Jio offers 0.5GB more than what Vodafone gives under its Rs 799 plan. The pack also gives unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 100 free texts.

As always you get a free subscription to Jio apps like Jio Music, JioCinema and JioTV. Vodafone, on the other hand, is offering a subscription to Vodafone Play for all its customers. Reliance Jio still stays ahead with higher data bundled with their plans in comparison to Vodafone, but Vodafone is slightly ahead of Airtel, but the leading telecom operator is expected to counter very soon.

Someone please help,

I’m from Tamil nadu, where Vodafone has both 3G and 4G on 2100 MHz band. But at the same place (am assuming both 3G & 4G BTS would be on the same site/tower for any Telco operating same bands), the signal strength is vastly different – e.g. 3G has -66 dBm while 4G has -88 dBm.

Can you kindly explain and clarify the reason for the same. Is 4G spectrum inefficient? Even with Jio, I find their even 4G on 1800 band to relay weak signal inspite of their tower being very nearby… probably just 100-150 metres away.

Low frequency has strong penetration power / long coverage thus less number of towers but it has less capacity to handle multiple users.

High frequency has less penetration power / less coverage tgus more number of towers but it has more capacity to handle multiple users.
