Vodafone India has revised its 2G data plan offering in Mumbai circle. The Rs.199 plan which earlier gave 2GB data now gives 1.25GB data at Edge speed and after 1.25GB the user can continue to surf at 40Kbps speed, this pack is valid for 28 days. Alongside this pack they have also launched an Online exclusive 2G pack of Rs.249 which offers 3GB+768 MB free for 28 days post which the user can surf unlimited at 40KBps.
It looks like with this revision Vodafone is trying to promote its own online recharge services so as to eliminate the commission of the third party recharge agents and apps and in turn boost its ARPU.

Vodafone does have good liquid cash reserves (from selling its stake in Verizon) for the upcoming auctions next month, but the added revenue will come in handy since they will be looking to buy spectrum across 900, 1800 and 2100MHz bands and limited spectrum availability will drive up the bids.
