Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, today launched a unique and innovative pilot service on SMS that allows customers to find Blood Donors or become a Blood donor through easy search on their fingertips or by walking into any Vodafone Store in Lucknow. All the user needs to do is, call *530#, which is the official number for Vodafone ‘Bloodline’, to find a donor or become a donor by replying as per the instructions in 2-3 easy steps.
Blood requirements are increasing exponentially on a daily basis. A lot of accidents and unexpected emergencies happen around us leading to an immediate need for blood. Often people are unable to access emergency services, hospitals within the shortest timelines . Vodafone has initiated ‘Bloodline’ to bridge this existing gap between the need for blood and available supply and play the role of enabler between the donor and the person in need. The pilot will be extended to different zones in UP EAST circle in the next few months.
Speaking on BloodLine, Pankaj Thapliyal, Business Head – UP (East), Vodafone India said, “Vodafone India as a value based organisation is passionate about people and is committed to making a difference to the lives of people across the geographies we operate in. As one of UP East’s largest telecom service providers, serving a customer base of 1.7 crore mobile phone users in the circle, we are pleased to present Vodafone ‘BloodLine’ an industry first initiative that leverages our network to help save lives. The initiative goes live effective today and I sincerely request all Vodafone customers in Lucknow to register themselves as donors, by simply walking in to the nearest Vodafone store or reaching out to our 24 hour helpline *530#.
