Vodafone, MTS offer Rs.1/min calls to Nepal, Aircel makes incoming roaming and calls Free

docomo-vs-relianceAlthough a day late, Vodafone, MTS India and Aircel are offering discounted calls from India to Nepal, as an assistance to support the earthquake disaster relief efforts and to enable people to reach out to their friends and families in Nepal.

Vodafone and MTS India are offering calls at the rate of Rs. 1 per minute. The offer is provided for next two days (48 hours). MTS’s offer began at 11pm yesterday. The provider has begun sending text messages to its entire base of prepaid and postpaid customers notifying about the reduced call rates. Vodafone’s discounted rate will be available till 10:00 hours on 28th April 2015.




For people using Aircel networks, all calls from India to Nepal will be free for next two days, 27th and 28th April 2015. Also, the service provider has waived off the incoming call charges for all subscribers who are currently roaming in Nepal. Moreover, the roaming charges for Aircel subscribers who are currently travelling to Nepal will be also free for next two days. The rental charges are also deducted.

“We are extremely distressed to see the mass devastation in Nepal caused by the earthquake and our hearts go out to all affected by this reflection of nature. We sincerely hope that our efforts in connecting the families and friends of the affected in this time of need helps and support them,” said Anupam Vasudev, Chief Marketing Officer, Aircel.

Yesterday, Airtel made all calls from India to Nepal free on their network. BSNL, Idea Cellular and Reliance too offered calls at local call rates at Rs. 1/minute.
