Vodafone which introduced youth focused 'U' packs in last May, is now offering free talktime to promote the packs to more users. The company is offering freebies starting from Rs 20 talktime to extra data with U packs on recharge to select customers.
As per our information the youth customers on Vodafone network using prepaid connections are getting such SMS where Vodafone is promising to offer Rs 20-40 talktime and extra data upto Rs. 300. Though this is limited to few customers only and not available as a market offer.
Back in May, when rival network were expanding 4G in more circles on rapid pace, Vodafone introduced the pack to bind youth customers so they don't leave their network. Vodafone India customised this youth based prepaid pack like a postpaid one. To make it more attractive, Vodafone partnered with popular youth content makers like TVF, Kanan Gill and Raftaar, but it failed to deliver exclusive content to U customers. Also, Vodafone falls behind their promise to bring a separate app for U customers.
In a market like India, youth customers are mostly cost sensitive and they weren't much interested in U packs as these packs offered comparatively smaller data benefits. According to our sources, Vodafone hasn't gained much success with U packs and the packs failed to attract youth customers in some key markets like Kolkata.
