These circles, namely Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Kolkata, and UP East, will now get enhanced services from Vodafone Idea. The 900 MHz spectrum will allow the operator to improve the indoor network experience for customers. Out of these seven circles, in five circles, the telco said that it is offering 900 MHz band services for the first time. So if there were customers who were frustrated because of the poor indoor services, well, things are going to change for them.

The great thing is that Vodafone Idea has also made the payment for this spectrum to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Vi's spectrum portfolio is pretty strong in its 17 priority circles. The telco has a mix of 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2500 MHz bands to offer great 4G services to customers. In some circles, Vi has also acquired 2300 MHz spectrum (10 MHz bandwidth).
Apart from 4G, for 5G, Vi has 50 MHz of spectrum in the 3300 MHz band in all of its 17 priority circles. The telco also has the 26 GHz spectrum in its portfolio to offer mmWave services. According to Vi, it is going to invest Rs 50000-55000 crore in capex in the next three years to improve network and technologies. This along with a strong spectrum portfolio will help the company in offering better services to customers.

However, to truly make a comeback, Vi would have to figure out a way to add subscribers in the short term. The telco's active user base has been declining pretty rapidly and its overall susbcriber base is falling down to the 200 million mark.
