Vodafone Idea (Vi) has seen exceptional performance in the Mumbai circle. Mumbai is one of the biggest markets in India because of the population it has. According to a release from the company citing TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) data, every 4 out of 5 new mobile subscribers in Mumbai chose Vodafone Idea (Vi), as their preferred telecom network. This is basis of the effective new customers for the period February to June 2021.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) Recently Deployed Additional Spectrum in Mumbai

For the unaware, Vodafone Idea (Vi) recently deployed an additional spectrum in the Mumbai circle. The telco deployed 5 MHz of 900 MHz spectrum along with 5 MHz of 2100 MHz spectrum. This will help the telco in increasing both the coverage of its network and the capacity to ensure faster speeds for each user in the circle.

In Mumbai, Vodafone Idea (Vi) holds the largest quantum of spectrum across different bands including 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 2500 MHz bands. The additional spectrum deployment in the 900 MHz bands will help the telco in ensuring that there is better indoor coverage for the users.

Further, the additional spectrum deployment in the 2100 MHz band will ensure that users get great internet speeds wherever they are and also reduce network congestions. Clearly, with the response that it has seen, Vodafone Idea will treat Mumbai as one of its top priority circles.

If the telco can deliver the same network experience in other parts of the country, it will definitely put it on the road to be the leading operator. It is interesting to see Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel missing out on the opportunity to claim their power in the Mumbai circle which is one of the biggest, but with 5G on the way, things might change a little. Vi would be on edge to keep the stats this way and with the relief package’s backing, it will be interesting to see how things pan out.
