Vodafone Idea Partners with Niyo to Offer Zero Markup Forex Card for International Travellers
Indian telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with travel banking fintech Niyo to offer Zero Markup Forex Cards to Vi customers travelling abroad this holiday season. In what the company calls a first-of-its-kind collaboration by a telecom operator, Vi customers can receive a Niyo Zero Forex Markup Card delivered to their doorstep within 24 hours, ahead of international travel for holidays, business, or higher education.

Vi adds financial services to its international travel ecosystem

According to Vi, the partnership adds a financial convenience layer to its international travel ecosystem. Vi customers can apply for the card through the Vi App, where a Niyo executive assists with KYC verification, card setup, and a trial transaction. Customers can check doorstep delivery availability by entering their name and PIN code, while those outside the Niyo Express service area can activate the card digitally through the Niyo App.

Complimentary Niyo Premium membership worth Rs 999

As an introductory offer, Vi said its customers will receive Niyo’s flagship Niyo Premium membership, worth Rs 999 per year, at no cost. The premium offering includes travel benefits such as annual savings of up to Rs 10,000, zero convenience fees on visa and flight bookings via the Niyo App, a flat 10 per cent discount on international hotels, one complimentary airport lounge access every quarter, and one free ATM withdrawal per quarter.

Accepted in more than 180 countries, the Niyo Forex Card enables international transactions at base exchange rates, helping customers avoid the typical 3–5 per cent forex mark-up charged on overseas spending.

Strengthening Vi’s international roaming and travel protection offerings

Vi said the initiative aligns with its focus on strengthening its international roaming proposition. Recently, the company announced special roaming discounts for secondary members on Vi Family Postpaid plans, offering a 10 per cent discount and up to 25 per cent for REDX Family users.

Vi has also partnered with Aditya Birla Health Insurance to provide international travel insurance coverage of up to Rs 40 lakh at Rs 285 with all international roaming packs, and with Blue Ribbon Bags to offer delayed or lost baggage protection of up to Rs 19,800 per bag for Rs 99.

With the latest Niyo Forex Card offering, Vi said it has built a comprehensive and convenient international travel experience proposition for its customers, blending seamless connectivity, smarter spending and dependable protection from the moment they leave the country’s shores, till their return.
