Back in his engineering days, he used to play with smartphones by installing custom ROMs and that passion got him into the tech industry. He still goes nuts about a smartphone knocking his door for review. Currently managing everything at Telecom Talk, Chakri is trying to master PUBG Mobile in his free time.

When Airtel/vodafone/Idea VoLTE will get ON Oppo F7/Redmi Note 5 Pro /Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1?

Kaushik IMA

Not sure about timelines, sorry.

Right now only Jio dual 4G is working!!!!!

Kaushik IMA

No Nikhil, in my screenshot that was Idea 4G + Vodafone 4G so you can use any operator 4G together in Dual SIM.

In Oppo F7, by default the 2nd SIM will be set to 2G/3G mode in network settings. In case Jio is the second SIM it selects 4G instead because it finds no 2G/3G network for that SIM.

But you can manually change this setting to 2G/3G/4G and get 4G on any operator for both SIMs.

This consumes a bit more battery on non-Jio SIMs because of simultaneous registration on 3G + 4G network.

Can you tell me about software update on Oppo phones? As you said Software on Oppo F7 is not polished(compared to Vivo V9) will it get better after Android P update? What has been case with Oppo F3 and Oppo F5?

Kaushik IMA

Oppo F5 software is very polished compared to F7. F3 was even more polished. F5 however has same annoyances with ColorOS such as locking the default apps to Oppo ones, aggressive task killing and choice of keyboard etc. F7 has a number of bugs which are slightly critical in nature. I expect they will fix it by June. Traditionally Oppo has not upgraded any of it’s old phones. F3 and F3 Plus got beta/manual download release of Nougat. It is said that Oppo will update F5 and A83 to Oreo. Right now builds of ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 7.1.1… Read more »
