Looks like Vodafone is all set to launch 4G and 3G service in Kerala circle ahead of Reliance Jio. Vodafone 4G and 3G signals are now live in different parts of Kochi.
Kochi was in the list of initial cities announced by Vodafone where it plans to roll out 4G services by the end of December 2015. Live signals indicate that the operator is all set to meet its December deadline and get a head start before Reliance Jio and Idea. Currently only Airtel has 4G service in selected cities in Kerala.
Vodafone India had announced its plan to roll out 4G services starting from December in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Kochi. It had also announced plans to roll out its own 3G networks in 7 circles; Assam, North East, UP West, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, and Odisha.
Like Airtel, Vodafone will also launch 4G services in a phased manner, and will cover major cities in the first wave. As Vodafone already has a robust 2G network in the circle, it will be much easier for the operator to launch 4G & 3G service compared to Reliance Jio, who is building its network & infrastructure from scratch.
Circle leader Idea currently holds the major chuck of premium data market in the circle with its vast 3G network. With Vodafone & Airtel 4G network going live will put pressure on Idea, who is also preparing to launch 4G service in the circle by 2016.
