Vivo has been dominating the mid-range segment for a few years now. However, now the Chinese brand is all set to launch a new series in India. The first phone in this new series from Vivo is already out for Indian buyers, and it is the Vivo Z1 Pro. It is crucial to note that although Vivo has released the specs of this new device, there has been no hint on the pricing of the Vivo Z1 Pro, but it is most likely to play on its strength and attempt to dominate the mid-range segment. The Vivo Z1 Pro surely aims for a modern design and equally modern specs, and here are all the details about this device.




Vivo Z1 Pro First Impressions: Design and Display

When it comes to design, Vivo has followed one of the most popular trends in the smartphone industry right now – the punch hole display. The front camera of the device sits on the top left side of the screen housing the front camera. The display of the Vivo Z1 Pro is also a wide and tall one meaning that the users get a lot of screen real estate. The device sports a 6.5-inch display which does not only have a tall form factor but also occupies a lot of width. On the sides, the phone has skinny bezels except on the lower side where it sports a slightly bigger chin. The Vivo Z1 Pro also houses the earpiece on the top edge.

On the rear side too, the device sports a trendy look. The back panel of the phone comes covered in a shiny gradient panel that is curved. The Sonic Blue variant of the device comes with a blue shade which darkens towards the bottom edges. The rear side also has the triple rear camera setup and the LED flash along with the tradition curved square fingerprint sensor placed in the middle. On the edges, the phone does not only come with the traditional volume rockers and the power button, but it also comes with a smart button which can be used to summon the Google Assistant, turn on Google Lens and start a conversation with the assistant. The bottom edge of the Vivo Z1 Pro fancies the speaker grille, micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Going by the design of the Vivo Z1 Pro people would guess that it’s a phone belonging to the Rs 30,000 segment, but the specs point more towards the pricing of Rs 20,000 and around. The device has a 6.5-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, and it renders bright and vibrant colours. Under the hood, the device packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712, thus making it one of the first devices in India to sport this chipset. This SoC comes paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, although there are also slated to be other variants of the phone including 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB. There is also a micro SD card slot which will allow for expansion up to 256GB. The device also aims to be an appropriate phone for gaming as it also earned the title of being the official phone for PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019. The device also packs ,000mAh battery and supports fast charging while packing 18W charger in the box. On the software front, the Vivo Z1 Pro boots the Android 9 Pie with Vivo’s FunTouchOS 9.

The triple rear camera setup on the Vivo Z1 Pro comprises of a 16MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/ 2.4 aperture. Looking at the specifications of the phone we feel that the Vivo Z1 Pro could be priced around the Rs 15,000 price range where it will be met with intense competition from devices like Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro and Samsung’s M series.
