Chinese brand Vivo has officially unveiled the world's first under display fingerprint scanner, the Vivo X20 Plus UD. The smartphone was announced in China moments ago, but the pricing and availability details are yet to be revealed. The X20 Plus UD features similar specifications as the Vivo X20 Plus, right from the processor, but the major change is the under display scanner. This smartphone comes with Synaptics Clear ID FS9500 sensor and to be noted, this is the same smartphone Synaptics and Vivo showcased at the CES 2018 event.

Talking about the specifications, the Vivo X20 Plus UD flaunts a 6.43-inch FullView AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The display features 18:9 aspect ratio. Powering the smartphone is the power-efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which is an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.2GHz.

The chipset is mated to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card. The device is entirely built out of metal, in-line with the recently launched Vivo smartphones.

Cameras in the smartphone include a primary 24MP shooter at the back, which is coupled to a 5MP secondary shooter for adding bokeh effect to the images. At the front, we get a 24MP selfie camera. While the rear camera comes with LED flash support, it lacks a front-facing LED flash though. Also, the rear camera has support for Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB port for data transfer and charging. Keeping the entire show running is a 3800mAh battery with support for fast charging as well. Overall, the Vivo X20 Plus UD features decent specifications, and it's interesting to see the price of the smartphone. As of now, the smartphone is said to arrive in a single 4GB of RAM variant, and expect it to be priced on the steeper side.

Furthermore, the X20 Plus UD marks the arrival of under display fingerprint scanner, which is expected to feature in many of the upcoming smartphones. Vivo may launch the X20 Plus UD with different moniker in the Indian market very soon.
