Chinese brand Vivo is all set to launch the Vivo U20 smartphone in India on November 22. The Vivo U20 will be the second smartphone in the Vivo U series which was introduced only in August this year. The Vivo U10 is an interesting smartphone as it packs impressive hardware and the pricing is also on the lower side at Rs 8,990. Since the Vivo U series is aimed at the online market, we're expecting the Vivo U20 to be priced on the lower side as well at a starting price of Rs 11,999. The U20 will take on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro which also sports the same chipset and it will be the third handset from Vivo to come with the said SoC. Similar to the Vivo U10, the U20 will also be exclusive to Amazon India and the official launch date is November 22.

Vivo U20 India Debut on November 22: What to Expect?

For years now, Vivo has launched smartphones which are priced on the steeper side. However, the company has come up with a new strategy this year by launching online-only Vivo Z series of phones. Later on, the Chinese handset maker came up with Vivo U series, since it does not have any competitive phones under Rs 10,000. The upcoming Vivo U20 is said to be a rebranded version of the Vivo U3 that was launched in China a few weeks ago.

Amazon India also posted some teaser images of the Vivo U20 revealing the design of the handset. The Vivo U20 will have a teardrop notch display, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and triple camera setup. As for the other available details, the Vivo U20 comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, clubbed with 6GB of RAM. Since it's a mid-range smartphone, we may see the company maxing out at 6GB of RAM only, unlike Xiaomi which launched an 8GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

The phone will not pack an in-display fingerprint scanner, so we will get an IPS LCD panel. The Vivo U20 will be the company's third smartphone in the country to ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset after the Vivo V15 Pro and Vivo V17 Pro smartphones. But both the V15 Pro and V17 Pro devices are priced on the higher side, but the Vivo U20 could be the cheapest phone in the country with the said SoC.

Since the Vivo U20 is a rebranded version of the Vivo U3, we have the complete spec-sheet available with us. The phone will rock a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display on the front carrying a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels. The triple camera setup on the smartphone includes 16MP primary shooter, 8MP secondary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, it has a 16MP selfie camera and 5000mAh fuels the device.

Vivo U20 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro: What to Expect

The Vivo U10 is a decent alternative to the Redmi Note 8, although it falls short of the latter in some aspects. Now, the Vivo U20 is all set to take on the Redmi Note 7 Pro (not the Redmi Note 8 Pro). Vivo may be competing with a generation-old smartphone from Xiaomi, but we're expecting it to hit on the pricing front this time. The Redmi Note 7 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display, Snapdragon 675 SoC, up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, 48MP+5MP rear camera setup, 13MP front-facing camera and a 4000mAh battery.

The Vivo U20 packs decent specs despite it launching at the flag end of 2019. It will be interesting to see how Vivo prices U20 in India. If the phone carries a price tag of anywhere around Rs 10,999 or Rs 11,999, it will become a good option for the customers in the price range.
