Videocon Telecom, has been awarded new number series to accommodate 1 million additional subscriber demand in the Gujarat Telecom Circle. The new series have been awarded post the telco’s eligibility of VLR criteria’s on existing series as specified by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Videocon Telecom which already has 3 Number series, to accommodate 3 million subscribers in Gujarat telecom circle, will now be able to accommodate an additional Million subscriber base with the new series of 8999.
With the new series, the telco will offer a whole lot of options to its customers to choose their favourite numbers (upto the last 6 digits) which could be their Lucky Number, Date of birth, House Number, Vehicle number etc on a SMS and USSD based application. The telco has offered an option for its retailers to browse, search and block the number of the customer’s choice by sending a SMS to 54054 or dialing USSD code *444#.
Mr. Arvind Bali, Director & CEO, Videocon Telecommunications Ltd. says, “We are growing aggressively in the Gujarat telecom market and have been awarded the 4th number series to accommodate a total of 4 Million subscribers in the circle. The new number series is allotted by the DoT as per standard guidelines on Subscriber base and VLR %.

“The customers of the state are much enthusiastic about having a mobile number of their choice and have a fetish for VIP and other premium numbers. Needless to say, considering the demand, all such premium numbers were more or less exhausted in our previous 3 No. series. With the new series’, we will have a whole lot of such numbers in our kitty and we will be offering these to the customers through our channel partners via SMS and USSD. We already have started receiving huge enquiries for reserving premium numbers and are confident of addressing the huge demand”, he added.
