Yogesh Malik had joined Uninor in 2011, and prior to this appointment he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with the company.

“Since he joined the company as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2011, he has played an instrumental role in establishing Uninor as the most affordable mobile operator. His focus on operational efficiency and innovations that benefit the mass market has contributed to making Uninor India’s fastest growing service provider,” said Brekke.

“Our successful entry into the Indian market has provided us with a strong platform for growth, and our clear ambition for the future is to continue taking market share by being recognised as the most attractive choice for mobile services in India,” Malik said.

Apart from being Manager Director of Uninor, Sigve Brekke has also held the position as Telenor Group Head of Asian Operations. When he now steps down as MD of Uninor he will fully focus on this role. He will continue to have overall responsibility for Telenor affairs in India as the head of Region Asia and will formally take over as Chairman of Uninor once necessary regulatory clearances are secured.
