Tata Sky Room TV Service Allows Users to Select Different Channels on Secondary Connection

Tata Sky has made a major change to its Multi TV policy earlier this year by removing it entirely. Later on, the DTH operator came up with a new service called 'Room TV' which replaced the company's Multi TV policy that was in place for several years. Under the Tata Sky Room TV service, subscribers with multiple Tata Sky connections will now be charged separate NCF for every connection, and at the same time, Tata Sky is allowing the users to choose different channels on secondary connections as well. Earlier, it was not the case as Tata Sky subscribers were forced to watch the channels only selected on the primary connection, but that has changed now. Also, Tata Sky has now removed HD access fee under the new tariff mandate which became fully effective from April 1. The Room TV service is extremely useful for those who had a lot of channels on the primary connection, but for some, it's disappointing as they'll have to pay Rs 153 every month as NCF charges.

Tata Sky Room TV Service: How is it Different from Multi TV Policy?

According to Tata Sky, the new Room TV service aims to make it more feasible for subscribers to choose packs for their secondary connections. All they have to do is to log into their account via the app or website and follow the steps which according to Tata Sky are easy to deal with. For the unaware, Tata Sky users in the past had to pay huge amount for secondary connections as the company did not allow them to modify the channel pack compared to the likes of Airtel Digital TV and Dish TV.

Also, as mentioned above, the Tata Sky Room TV service allows users to choose the content of their choice on the secondary connection and the best part is they have to pay for the content they choose. Earlier, that wasn't the case; Tata Sky Multi TV subscribers were forced to view the channels of their primary connection and the prices used to be sky high. However, with the new Room TV service, customers can view the content which they like to and can only pay for that, thus removing the hassle of paying premium charges every month.

"Their secondary connections can now have different channels & services from the base pack selected for the first connection in the house under the same subscriber ID," mentions Tata Sky in their website. As mentioned above, Tata Sky Multi TV users can access Room TV service via the company's website or mobile app.

Tata Sky Room TV Service Replaces Multi TV Policy

Tata Sky used to be the least chosen DTH service provider when it comes to Multi TV connections, however, with the Room TV service, that's going to change as users are free to choose channels of their own. But there are some users disappointed with the move as Tata Sky is levying Rs 153 NCF charges on every secondary connection. For those who earlier had a pricey channel pack, this move from Tata Sky will come as a relief, but for those, who had very few channels activated in their primary connection, this will disappoint.

Tata Sky HD Set-Top Box Now Costs Under Rs 1,500

Tata Sky has been making some major moves in the industry in recent times to lure new subscribers. The easiest way to add more subscribers on board is by reducing the prices of set-top boxes. Tata Sky HD Set-Top Box which was available for over Rs 2,000 is now available for under Rs 1,500. New Tata Sky HD customers can get the box for just Rs 1,499 and the SD Set-Top Box of Tata Sky can be availed for Rs 1,399. Airtel Digital TV is charging just Rs 769 for the HD Set-Top Box, but that does not include any installation charges.
