STT GDC Partners with Phaidra to Pilot AI-Based Cooling System in Singapore
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has announced a collaboration with Phaidra, an AI-driven solutions provider, to pilot an autonomous control system aimed at optimising data center cooling in Singapore. This partnership marks STT GDC as the first operator in Asia to implement Phaidra’s AI-powered system, STT GDC said in a statement this week.

Phaidra's AI Technology

Phaidra provides AI-powered control systems for data centres. Phaidra's technology uses deep learning models to analyse sensor data in real time, continuously adjusting cooling systems to maximise energy efficiency and reliability. The AI system adapts to changing conditions, such as increased loads from high-density GPU deployments and external weather changes, providing a sustainable solution for data center operations, STT GDC explained.

Supporting Singapore's Green DC Roadmap

The initiative aligns with STT GDC's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and supports Singapore's broader efforts to foster sustainable growth in the data center industry. Initial estimates suggest the AI system could reduce cooling energy consumption by 10 percent, with potential savings increasing to 30 percent as more data is collected, the official release said.

"Combining our expertise in delivering AI-ready data centres across major economic hubs with Phaidra’s industry-leading know-how in using AI to optimise mission-critical control systems, we are leading the way in using AI to further drive sustainability within our data centres," said ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.

"Through this collaboration, we are not only seeing meaningful impact on our ongoing decarbonisation efforts, but also significant efficiency gains in data centre operations that already offer a hybrid of both air and liquid cooling. This pilot is testament to our commitment to drive sustainable innovation across our data centres."

Expansion Across Global Data Centers

This pilot will serve as a model for possible subsequent deployments across STT GDC’s portfolio of data centres globally, the joint statement said.
