Android 4.4.2 KitKat rolling out for Sony Xperia Tablet Z in India

Sony has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Xperia Tablet Z in India. It comes with performance improvements, UI enhancements, new features from Android KitKat and updates to Sony’s own apps. Sony started the release of this update last month and it has reached India today.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z KitKat Update Features:

  • Immersive Mode, Revamped status bar & quick setting toggles
  • New launch animation¬†and Live Wallpaper
  • New apps for messaging, email, Walkman music player & smart social camera
  • Performance improvements
  • Compatibility with Sony SWR10 smartwatch and Lifelog app

It is good to see Sony updating its devices to latest version of Android.

These devices are getting 4.4.2 when Motorola devices and Nexus are already in 4.4.3. If Sony can’t push these updates quickly, they should try the minimal customization as in Motorola phones.

Sony also knocked down the price of the device to Rs 30,999. Which is the best deal for a 10.1″ premium tablet. Tablet currently sells bellow 30k on many sites.
