Sony Xperia M5 ‘Super Mid-Range’ smartphone announced with 21.5MP camera

Apart from the Xperia C5 Ultra phablet that was announced today, Sony also announced a ‘Super Mid-Range’ smartphone, the Xperia M5, today. Sony is highlighting its 21.5-megapixel camera on the rear, 13-megapixel camera on the front, and its water-resistance ability.

Sony Xperia M5

It comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD display that’s bright, and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. On the inside, it features an octa-core processor from MediaTek, the MT6752, that features 64-bit Cortex-A54 CPU cores that are clocked at 2.0GHZ, and an PowerVR G6200 GPU. There’s 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot that can accommodate cards of upto 200GB.

The 21.5-megapixel primary camera uses a Sony Exmor RS sensor with Hybrid Autofocus technology, and Sony claims that it allows the camera to focus under 0.25 seconds. It uses a F/2.2 aperture lens, and the camera can click HDR images and record 4K videos. The front-facing camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels, and it can record 1080p videos. For a mid-range smartphone, the camera features are quite good.
