Sony Xperia E3 and E3 Dual go on sale for Rs 11,990 and Rs 12,990

Amidst the frenzy going on regarding the launch of Android One devices in the country, Sony has quietly launched the Xperia E3 and E3 dual in India for Rs 11,990 and Rs 12,990 respectively. The mid range offerings will be taking on the other mid rangers like the Moto G (2nd Gen) and a slew of other budget quad cores. Its specifications are somewhat closely matched to the Android One devices and it costs twice as much. Let us take a look at their specifications:

  • 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera
  • 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS with aGPS and Dual SIM connectivity
  • 2330 mAh battery with STAMINA Mode
  • Colours: Black, White and Lime for the E3 Dual, Black and White for E3
  • Rs 12,990/Rs 11,990

So if you can compromise a bit on the processor (Android One devices have a Mediatek unit), you can save yourself the money to buy 2 Android One smartphones instead.

Many OEMs are offering 4GB/8GB internal memory but they and websites reviewing them are hiding the most important factor. Not all the internal memory is useful because OEMs create partition and create a SD CARD out of this, thus the net internal memory reduces to approx 1GB. This is too small for a good phone. It gets full just after updating all the pre-installed apps. External SD card of 16GB is also waste with these devices as camera, Bluetooth etc use SD Card instead of External SD card.
