The Sony Xperia C4, C4 Dual, and the C5 Ultra were poised to receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow from its present Android 5.0 Lollipop setup. But, disappointingly, the device just received an update to Android 5.1 Lollipop in lieu of Marshmallow. Sony published a list last year, which carried the names of its devices that were poised to jump straight to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The list did carry the name of Xperia C4, C4 Dual and Xperia C5 Ultra.
This update is currently being rolled out to the Xperia C4 along with its dual-SIM variant, and the Xperia C5 Ultra. The build number for the update is 27.2.A.0.155 and 27.2.B.0.155 respectively for the C4 and C4 Dual. The roll out is widespread and looks pretty much intentional by Sony, it is certainly not one of those where update reaches just a cramped set of devices. Sony has rolled out the update all the models of the C4, C4 Dual, and C5 Ultra through an OTA (over-the-air) setup. For all the Sony Xperia C4 users in India, if the update notification has not appeared on your device yet, then you can also check for the update manually. Simply go to Settings > About Phone > System Update on your smartphone.
Well, we are not certain if this is a sign of no Marshmallow update for the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra users. It may be one of those actions, where Sony just wants to give its users something good while waiting for the major update, i.e. the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We hope Sony comes up with an explanation to avoid the speculations. It might probably be an event where Sony has released an update, which will bring in a few improvements to the security and performance departments of the Xperia C4 and C5. Or maybe, it is preparing a good base for the Marshmallow setup, only time will tell.
