It will give both of us an opportunity to scale up our business ambitions, creating value for all our stakeholders with a focussed and strategic approach. It also gives ZEE5 access to SITI Broadband households."

Broadband Operators Betting Big on Providing OTT Subscriptions

With the entry of JioFiber, every broadband player is now looking to establish partnerships with OTT players. Already, Internet Service Providers like BSNL, Airtel, ACT Fibernet partnered with OTT players like Netflix, Amazon, ZEE5 and so on to offer discounts on monthly subscriptions. That said, JioFiber also mentioned OTT subscriptions would be provided to the broadband customers on premium plans, but the details are awaited.

For now, Airtel has the best OTT service offerings with its broadband plans. As part of the Airtel Thanks membership programme, broadband users of Airtel on plans priced above Rs 1,099 will receive three months of Netflix subscription, one-year of Amazon Prime membership, premium ZEE5 subscription worth Rs 99 every month and Airtel Xstream app subscription worth Rs 1,200 for free. ACT Fibernet is providing a discount of up to Rs 500 on Netflix monthly plans and has various partnerships with ZEE5, Hungama Play, Yupp TV and more.

JioFiber broadband plans aren't that impressive because of the FUP limit, however, the company may announce new OTT partnerships taking on the rival broadband operators. Siti Broadband's partnership with ZEE5 shows even local operators are looking to up their game.
