Both these smartphones made their entry in the latter half of 2017 and grabbed eyeballs upon launch. The Moto X4 6GB (launched very recently) is available for a price of Rs 24,999 while Honor 8 Pro is priced a little bit higher at Rs 25,999. So, we are going to pit these smartphones against one another and see how they are going to hold out.

Design
With the onset of 2017, it was one of the major goals of smartphone makers to give consumers a phone which not only performs better but also score high points in terms of looks as well. That being said, the Moto X4 6GB flaunts a design that definitely a deserved second look. It comes with a 68.4 percent screen to body ratio. The glittery finish on the front and back panels increases the aesthetics of this phone. In case you are wondering, the Moto X4 6GB is 11% lighter than Honor 8 Pro.

On, the other hand we saw Huawei implementing the same design on Honor 8 Pro which we have seen previously on other smartphones from the Honor series. The Honor 8 Pro sports a subtle body with a sturdy build quality which will definitely feel good in hands.

Talking about the fingerprint sensor placement, Moto X4 6GB has the fingerprint sensor placed below the display beautifully. While Honor 8 Pro has its fingerprint sensor on the back which is quite the norm.

Display
The Moto X4 6GB flaunts a beautiful and compact 5.2-inch Full HD display. It will be an ideal choice for those who don’t like holding big phones. On the other hand, the Honor 8 Pro sports a bigger and better 5.7-inch 2.5D curved glass Quad HD display. The streamlined design of the phone doesn’t make it look monstrous device and ideal for people looking for something bigger than a regular 5.5 incher.

Both the smartphones come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to prevent the display from scratches and nicks in case you are a little bit on the careless side while handling your phone.

Hardware and Software
In terms of hardware, the Moto X4 6GB packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with Adreno 508 GPU. The Honor 8 Pro, on the other hand, is drawing power from the Huawei made Kirin 960 chip clocked slightly higher at 2.4GHz with a Mali-G71 MP8 GPU taking care of graphics.

Talking about performance, Kirin 960 in Honor 8 Pro outshines the Snapdragon 630 chipset on the Moto X4 6GB. So, if you are looking for a regular smartphone, then the Moto X4 6GB is for you. But if you’re trying to knock out all those graphics hungry games then the Honor 8 Pro is your best bet.

Moving on to the software part, Moto X4 6GB made its debut rocking Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box while the Honor 8 Pro requires some time to receive the Oreo update. The Moto X4 6GB comes with a stock UI while Honor 8 Pro comes with EMUI skin which is a delight in itself, but surely, it's a heavy skin which disappointed several consumers in the past.

Both the smartphones come with 6GB of RAM onboard which is more than enough for normal usage. So you won’t be running out of it anytime soon. The Moto X4 6GB has 64GB of internal space available which is expandable up to 2TB. While Honor 8 Pro has a huge 128GB of storage space which can be further expanded up to 128GB. So, if you are not a big fan of all those fancy and shiny memory cards then go for Honor 8 Pro.

Camera
In recent times camera has become the decisive feature for some smartphone buyers and brands know it well too. The Moto X4 6GB features a dual 12MP camera with secondary 8MP lens. On the Honor 8 Pro, there is a 12MP dual camera accompanied with the 12MP lens. Moving on to primary camera, we can see a 16MP shooter on Moto X4 6GB for taking care of selfies and video calls. The Honor 8 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a regular 8MP front shooter. Though, quality of the photos will be the deciding factor here.

Battery
The Moto X4 6GB is drawing its power from a 3000mAh battery placed under the hood. While Honor 8 Pro is rocking a 4000mAh battery which is 33% more than Moto X4 6GB. It will definitely keep it running through all those games, web browsing and video needs. However, the Snapdragon 630 chipset is a power-efficient one, and alongside the Full HD display, it will deliver equal battery life as the Honor 8 Pro.

Other Features
Why are we now having other features tab? Because the Moto X4 has some features which are only limited to flagship smartphones. The Moto X4 is an IP68 water and dust certified smartphone, meaning you can take the smartphone under water for 30 minutes. Also, it comes with Wireless Bluetooth System which allows you to stream audio on five devices at the same time.

Conclusion
While on paper, the Honor 8 Pro looks like a beast and of course it does because it's the 2017 flagship smartphone from Honor. However, the View 10 has now arrived, and it's priced at Rs 29,999, and yes, it offers better features such as the processor, latest operating system with AI built-in, upgraded cameras, design, and much more. And all these features at a mere Rs 4,000 extra.

Coming to the comparison between Moto X4 and Honor 8 Pro, the former offers IP68 rating, compact form factor, latest operating system, while the latter offers Android 7.0 Nougat based heavy EMUI skin, metal build, and Quad HD display. You may consider the Honor 8 Pro here, but again, there's the option of Honor View 10 available as well.

Also, Honor will not provide Android P software update to the 8 Pro, but the Moto X4 will surely receive it. So, it's all your decision to choose a pick between the two.
