Samsung recently announced the Galaxy S25 series for the global market. For the Indian pricing and specifications, you can refer to the link below. The Galaxy S25 series is a statement of the future to come. When you look at Samsung and Apple, their smartphones don't come with major upgrades on hardware every subsequent year.  We are talking about the flagship phones. Samsung Galaxy S25 series looks very identical to the Galaxy S24 series, and when it comes to camera systems, some sensors have been used for years. It is the same with Apple.

Apple's iPhones have been criticised for being almost the same every year. These companies don't offer huge upgrades in hardware like what their Chinese competitors do. Apple and Samsung have a strong reason to be this way. They know that their users are spending a lot of money on the phones, and are unlikely to upgrade every year. Thus, they keep making small tweaks to their phones every year and after three to four years, these changes amount to enough difference that their old device users can upgrade.

Hardware Tech is More Mature than Ever

At the same time, one must acknowledge that these phones have hardware that has reached a mature stage. In the previous decade, tech upgrades were happening at a faster rate with Apple and Samsung because the technology wasn't as mature. However, since the hardware tech is now mostly mature, the focus of the OEMs (original equipment makers) is now on the software.

In the last year, almost every OEM has focused a ton on smoothening the animations on their Operation System (OS) because that is what users wanted. Further, the shift to attention on AI (artificial intelligence) is also very much evident from Samsung's recent Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung started by unveiling the Galaxy S25 series. However, instead of talking about the hardware, the company talked a lot about the software, especially the AI part.

Apple's iPhone 16 series launch also majorly focused on Apple Intelligence and its integration on the Apple ecosystem and then there was the Camera Control. In the coming years, this is a trend we likely will see happen with the more brands on the market where the focus will shift from hardware upgrade to software, mostly focusing on AI and a better user experience.
