Samsung Z1 smartphone with Tizen OS launched in India for Rs. 5700, available from today

Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Z1 (Z130H), which is company’s first ever budget Tizen OS smartphone in India. The phone comes with a 4-inch WVGA display, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor coupled with 768MB RAM. The device runs on Tizen OS 2.3 and sports a 3.1-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and 3G connectivity. Tizen is Samsung and Intel’s collaborative operating system with an aim to reduce the dependency on Google’s Android platform. With Tizen, Samsung is eying upon the sub-10K smartphone market.

Samsung Z1 features Ultra Power Saving Mode to enhance the battery life. It also has free access to premium content such as 270,000 songs and over 80 live TV channels via Club Samsung . It also has free access to Hungama music for three months and free nexGTv and Box TV subscription for three months.

The device lets the users to enable the SOS alert by just pressing the power button four times in a row, by doing so, the phone sends out ‘help text' to the primary contacts for tracking the location. The Z1 comes pre-loaded with AntiVirus protection which detects viruses whenever user installs an app or checks any message. The Z1 also supports 14 regional languages from India.

Commenting on the launch, Hyun Chil Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India Electronics, said,”The smartphone market in India is rapidly evolving, with many consumers using their device as their screen of choice for content including videos, television programs and video games, as well as a range of apps. We have customized the Samsung Z1 to meet these unique, entertainment-focused needs of local Indian consumers for a personal and reliable mobile experience.”he said.

  • dual SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS
  • 1500mAh battery

The Samsung Z1 will be available in White, Black and Wine Red colors, for a price of Rs. 5,700. The phone is available all over India starting from today. As an inaugural offer, it has 500MB of 3G data free every month for a period of 6 months (applicable for Reliance and Aircel users only).
