Samsung Intros Omnia W, Wave 3 and Galaxy Y Smartphones In India

Samsung today announced the launch of 3 new smartphones - Galaxy Y, Omnia W and Wave 3 , based on multi-platform Android, Windows Phone and Bada OS in Indian market.

Samsung Omnia W, its first Smartphone based on the latest release of Microsoft’s Windows Phone, code-named Mango. Featuring an elegant design, a vivid SuperAMOLED display, an enriched content as well as social communication experience enabled by People Hub, the Omnia W (GT-I8350) puts people at the center of everything.




The Company also strengthened its smartphone portfolio with the launch of its first bada 2.0 device Wave III (GT-S8600) and its Android based entry smartphone targeted at younger audience, the Galaxy Y (GT-S5360).

Omnia W

The eye-catching Omnia W sports a minimalist contemporary design featuring a metallic finish. A rich 3.7” SuperAMOLED display provides stunning visuals ensuring that photos and videos captured with the device’s 5MP camera can be enjoyed with vivid clarity. A powerful 1.4GHz processor delivers seamless performance, allowing a fast and richer user experience.

This is further enhanced by the device’s integrated 14.4Mbps HSPA+ connectivity, enabling high-speed data browsing and ensuring that videos and pictures can be instantly shared with friends and family.

Windows Phone has been developed to provide an easy, intelligent and socially connected smartphone experience. Users can easily connect and share experiences with their friends using a variety of communication mediums, while a superior Web browsing experience is further enhanced with the integration of Internet Explorer 9 and Bing.

Mango’s unique and intuitive user interface lays out applications in mosaic ‘Live Tiles’ which flow and move on the screen in response to the users touch. The interface provides the benefits of a user environment usually associated with a larger display within the portability of a smartphone screen, delivering a flexible and intuitive experience. The six specialized Microsoft applications provide an engaging content and communication experience. The Windows Phone People Hub is integrated with social networking services built-in Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, ensuring that users always stay in touch with their social community.

Office Hub provides enhanced productivity on-the-go and includes access to Windows Live Sky Drive, which provides 25GB of free storage and allows documents and media files to be easily stored and accessed anywhere. Users can also create and edit documents through mobile versions of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as utilize One Note, a note-taking platform allowing the easy sharing and storage of voice memos, images and text-based notes.

Seamless access to entertainment is enabled by the integration of a Picture Hub, Music and Video Hub powered by Microsoft Zune, and Game Hub, which provides the latest in social gaming experiences through Xbox live, meaning that friends can chat with each other while gaming. Windows Phone Marketplace provides access to over 30,000 apps to meet customer needs across entertainment or productivity.

The overall Windows Phone experience is significantly enhanced with the inclusion of a set of Samsung-exclusive productivity apps. This includes Samsung AllShare, which provides seamless content transfer between the smartphone and other DLNA-enabled devices such as HDTV’s, monitors and digital cameras. Video Call is an easy-to-use app which allows ultra-fast vivid 3G video conversations with friends and family. Additionally, Mini Diary enables users to capture their experiences in multimedia formats and create their very own personalized digital journal while on the go. The Omnia W is priced at Rs.19,990.

WAVE III

Beautiful and stylish, Samsung’s flagship chic smartphone the Wave III, is powered by its own new bada 2.0 platform along with a market-leading 4-inch SuperAMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor and HSPA+ connectivity into a 9.9mm brushed-metal case. Building on the Wave series’ style heritage in full metal design, the Wave III is the perfect device for the style-conscious consumer. Excellently constructed of anodized aluminum, the slim yet solid unibody design supports your active, on-the-move lifestyle.

The bada 2.0 platform brings together a wide variety of new capabilities including multi-tasking, Wi-Fi Direct, and voice recognition. It enables smartphone users to experience advanced services such as photo and file sharing without Internet networking. It supports mobile payment and transport pass-card recharge. The Wave III includes Samsung’s integrated Social Hub and Music Hub, allowing the purchase and download of tracks and albums over-the-air. With smarter multi-tasking, seamless push notification and Wi-Fi Direct, the Wave III has the capabilities to keep you connected and entertained at all times. ChatON is Samsung’s proprietary mobile communication service that works across all major mobile devices. A global cross-platform communication service links all your friends and contacts instantly. Micro-communities can be set up through group chat, while a web client allows the sharing of content and conversations between mobile and PC.

The Wave III is priced at Rs 19,600.

GALAXY Y

Powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating systems, the compact, stylish and feature rich Galaxy Y is an ideal device for younger consumers. It allows consumers to stay social, while being on–the-go.

Seamless multitasking is enabled thanks to the device’s powerful 832MHz processor. The Galaxy Y includes Samsung’s Social Hub, allowing users to stay connected with their online social circles. Equipped with Samsung’s TouchWiz User Interface, the Galaxy Y delivers a simple and intuitive experience. Additionally, the inclusion of SWYPE facilitates speedy typing. The Galaxy Y is priced at Rs.7,830.
