Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ Could Be the Most Expensive Galaxy Series Smartphones Ever

Samsung will be launching its next-generation flagship smartphones on February 25, and a new tipster now claims the Galaxy S9 duo will be the most expensive Galaxy smartphones in the S lineup. This news is revealed by popular Twitter tipster @Ricciolo, who has a history of leaking Samsung smartphone related news. But we highly doubt this leak as both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are touted to be marginal upgrades over the last year's Galaxy S8 and S8+.

The major upgrade in the Galaxy S9 and S9+ would be the cameras. Samsung is already teasing the cameras on both the phones, and it's expected that the South Korean giant will be using the variable aperture setup which it introduced with the Samsung W2018 flip phone released a while ago in China. The Galaxy S9 will come with a single 12MP camera lens with f/1.5 and f/2.4 variable lens setup. The Galaxy S9+ is said to sport dual camera setup at the back with the secondary sensor being a telephoto lens as seen on the Galaxy Note 8.

However, in some cases, this price leak seems to be a legit one. With Samsung pricing the Galaxy Note 8 at $949 in the US, there might be a possibility that the Galaxy S9+ could go all the way up to $999, in-line with the price of Apple iPhone X. The Galaxy S8 was priced at $700, while the S8+ retailed for $800. The official prices are now down.

If Samsung prices the Galaxy S9 at $899 and S9+ at $999, then a serious question will be raised over the pricing strategy, considering the fact that they're incremental upgrades over last year models.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will still pack a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD+ displays with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9. This time around, they will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 4GB of RAM on the S9 and 6GB of RAM on the S9+. Both the phones will boot Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, and they will come with Bixby hardware key as per the renders. They are rumoured to have a 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries respectively.
