It is again that time of the year where e-commerce giants are on the task of holding extravagant online sales. The Amazon Prime Sale and the Flipkart Big Shopping Days Sale are the ones kickstarting today and will go on for a day or two. While the Amazon Prime Sale is limited only to Prime members of Amazon, the Flipkart Big Shopping Days Sale will be open for all. There are many launches, discounts, offers and cashbacks expected during the sale times on both the websites. Samsung has also announced a new offer for its 2017 phablet offering, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which will be available at an effective price of Rs 41,990 depending on your exchange offer.

In order to register massive sales of the device in the last phase before Samsung launches the Galaxy Note 9, the company is offering a straight discount of Rs 10,000 on exchanging an old phone with the addition of the value of the exchanged device. So for example, if the return value of your phone is Rs 5,000, then you will be eligible for a total discount of Rs 15,000. HDFC cardholders will enjoy the additional benefit of Rs 4,000 cashback and the option of a no-cost EMI of up to 9 months. Adding all these offers the effective price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes down to Rs 41,990.

According to our knowledge, this deal of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at Rs 41,990 doesn’t seem like a bad one looking at the specifications of the phone. The Note 8 runs the Exynos 8895 under the hood along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is dual 12MP rear cameras, a 3300mAh battery, IP68 rating, a 6.3-inch super AMOLED Infinity display with a 2K resolution, a screen boasting of some of the best quality smartphone graphics in the world. There is also the much known S Pen, which remains exclusive to the Note series.

However, given that it’s almost a year since the Galaxy Note 8 was launched there has been an increase in the number of flagship phones in the market which are available with a lesser price tag and comparable specifications. Around the price tag of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, users have the alternative of buying the OnePlus 6 or the newly launched Asus Zenfone 5Z. The 6GB+64GB variant of the OnePlus 6 will be available for Rs 34,999 while the same option in the Asus Zenfone 5Z is available for Rs 29,999. However, Asus does offer a Rs 3,000 discount to ICICI card holders bringing down the price to Rs 26,999.

If you want to grab the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, this seems like the right time to do it. However, if you’d want better value for money in a smartphone with latest specifications, it will be better to see what more offers Amazon and Flipkart have in store for the buyers. Flipkart will also be offering the Google Pixel 2's 128GB variant at an effective price of Rs 42,999 during the sale days.
