The Samsung Galaxy M40 will be launching in India later today. Ahead of the launch, Samsung has released a new teaser video in which the company has confirmed some of the hardware features of the Galaxy M40. The Galaxy M40 will be powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset and comes paired with up to 6GB of RAM. As seen with other Galaxy M smartphones, the M40 will likely arrive in different RAM, storage variants. For the unaware, Snapdragon 675 is the same chipset which powers the Xiaomi Redmi 7 Pro and it's available in the country for less than Rs 15,000. With Samsung's OneUI on board, the Galaxy M40 should deliver a good performance.

Samsung Galaxy M40: What We Know So Far

The Galaxy M40 is sort of an interesting smartphone from the South Korean smartphone brand. It will be the first smartphone under Rs 30,000 to feature Infinity-O display technology, which is basically the punch-hole camera design found on the likes of Honor View 20, Samsung Galaxy S10 series. Thanks to the usage of Infinity-O display, we will be able to see over 90% of screen-to-body ratio. Also, the phone lacks in-display fingerprint scanner because it's a physical one placed on the rear side.

As noted, the Samsung Galaxy M40 will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC underneath which works in tandem with 6GB of RAM. The device will surely come with Android 9 Pie-based OneUI out of the box. Going by the rumours, the Galaxy M40 will likely have a primary 32MP shooter on the rear side paired with an ultra-wide lens and a depth sensor. Also, the teaser video from Samsung confirmed the phone would rock triple cameras on the rear side. Up front, the punch-hole camera will likely have a 16MP shooter.

The screen on the Galaxy M40 is said to be a 6.3-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel. Lastly, the Galaxy M40 will reportedly feature a smaller 3500mAh battery compared to other Galaxy M devices. There will be a USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

Samsung Galaxy M40: Expected Pricing in India

Samsung has been aggressive this year with Galaxy M and Galaxy A series of phones. The previous Galaxy M series phone, the Galaxy M30, offered a Super AMOLED display, triple rear cameras, 5000mAh battery and Android 9 Pie software at Rs 14,999. So what would be the price of the Galaxy M40 in India? Well, it could be around Rs 20,000 or Rs 19,999 to be precise because we have the Redmi Note 7 Pro with the same Snapdragon 675 SoC starting at Rs 13,999.

And the Realme 3 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC starting at the same Rs 13,999 price point. The Galaxy M40 surely offers special features like Infinity-O display, triple rear cameras, Super AMOLED panel and so on, but the price should not be more than Rs 20,000 considering what the competition is offering right now. The Galaxy M40 launch will begin at 6 PM IST today where the company will reveal complete specifications and price of the handset.
