Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is the company's non-flagship smartphone to offer 5G connectivity and Snapdragon 855 SoC. The Galaxy A90 5G is the company's premium mid-range offering which may not reach the Indian market anytime soon as there's no carrier offering 5G services right now. The Galaxy A90 5G also features Qualcomm's Snapdragon X50 5G modem to provide 5G connectivity. Right now, the company has launched the smartphone in only South Korea, but it may reach other countries where 5G services are available as well. Other features of the smartphone include a 48MP triple rear camera system, 32MP selfie camera and a 4500mAh battery that's accompanied with Samsung's 25W fast charging. Samsung announced the smartphone in two colour options- black and white, both of them featuring a unique geometric pattern on the back.
Samsung Galaxy A90 5G: Specifications and Features
The Galaxy A90 5G doesn't look anywhere close to the Galaxy Note 10 or the Galaxy S10 series as the phone has a teardrop notch display. On the front, Samsung has added a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display featuring a teardrop notch on top that houses the 32MP selfie camera. Underneath, the smartphone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which we earlier saw on high-end phones like OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7, Redmi K20 Pro and so on. Also, to offer 5G connectivity support, Samsung also integrated the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem inside the Galaxy A90 5G.
The smartphone comes in two RAM variants- 6GB and 8GB, and both the variants feature 128GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card slot as well on the 6GB RAM variant. Samsung also added an in-display fingerprint scanner and there's Face Unlock support as well.
As for the cameras, we're looking at a triple camera setup on the rear side comprising of 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front side, the phone packs a 32MP shooter for selfies and video calling. Samsung also confirmed the Galaxy A90 5G would offer features like Scene Optimiser, Super Steady and Flaw Detector.
Connectivity options on the Galaxy A90 5G include 5G, 4G LTE, Dual 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and GLONASS. It has a 4500mAh battery with 25W fast charging and the USB Type-C port is present on the bottom side. The Galaxy A90 5G also supports Samsung DeX.
As you can clearly see, the specifications of the Galaxy A90 5G are surely on the mid-range side and they won't match the likes of Galaxy Note 10 released recently. Except for the Snapdragon 855 SoC and the 5G modem, the Galaxy A90 5G is pretty much similar to the Galaxy A70 that was launched in India a couple of months ago. If Samsung launches the Galaxy A90 without 5G support, then the company may price it around Rs 45,000.
“We’re excited about the success of the Galaxy A Series – a generation of smartphones built for the new Era of Live that focuses on essential features people want the most, including a high-quality camera, long-lasting battery and immersive display,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
