Samsung announces Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 with ultra-thin metal bodies and 5MP front-facing cameras

At last, Samsung has announced two new mid-range smartphones with premium builds; the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5. Both smartphones have ultra-thin premium metal unibodies with a waistline under 7mm. Both the device are powered by quad-core processors, run Android 4.4 KitKat, and come with 5-megapixel front-facing cameras. Both the devices come in LTE variants and NFC chips but it is still not clear whether Samsung will launch LTE variants of the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 in India. Both the devices, the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5, including their more premium sibling, the Galaxy A7 (still unannounced), were leaked several times through benchmarks and images.

The Galaxy A5 is the more premium handset of the two and comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel secondary camera, a 2,300 mAh battery, and all this inside a 6.7mm ultra-thin body with metal casing.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 features a 4.5-inch qHD display, a quad-core processor, and 1GB of RAM. It is equipped with an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. It comes with a 1,900 mAh battery with an ultra-thin 6.9mm body with metal casing.

It is evident that both the smartphones come with a focus on front-facing cameras and social networking features. Both of them will be launched in a variety of colours, including Pearl White, Midnight Black, Platinum Silver, Soft Pink, Light Blue, and Champagne Gold. Samsung is yet to announce the pricing for these devices, which will be play a major role in their success. As per the preliminary information, these devices will be launched only in selected markets, at least during the start of its availability.

Samsung is expecting to take back the mid-range smartphone market with these two smartphones, which it lost to other players like Motorola, Sony, and Asus in the past few months. Are you impressed with the Samsung Galaxy A3 and the Samsung Galaxy A5?
