Reliance Jio to soon launch ‘Locate My Device’ feature

Reliance Jio, the latest entrant in the Indian telecom sector had been surprising us very frequently ever since its launch in September. First, it introduced the Welcome Offer with free 4G internet and voice calling. Next, extending the free services, it had announced the Happy New Year Offer (with slight changes).

And according to our sources, it may soon introduce a new feature called ‘Locate My Device’. As the name itself suggests, this new feature will help users locate their devices with the help of GPS. This feature can come in quite handy especially for users who tend to misplace their smartphones very frequently.

From the image, it is clearly visible that the ‘Locate My Device’ feature will provide information of smartphone’s location history. Also, as seen from the image, users can keep a track of location in a list view (apart from a Map view) which provides more detailed information including the date and time.

Jio subscribers can make use of this feature by logging into the Jio’s official website.

All you have to do is to click on ‘My Account’, on doing so, you’ll see a few options on the screen including ‘Locate My Device’. Currently, this feature appears to have not been taken live but once it goes live, users can track their smartphones from the website itself.

Having said that, we don’t have any information if this feature will work only on Lyf-branded smartphones or if it will be made available to all the Jio subscribers.

Also, in case your smartphone is stolen, Jio is allowing users to remotely control the device via JioSecurity app. With the help of this app, users can wipe data or lock the smartphone remotely. This feature is only available for Android users, though.
