Reliance Globalcom to Deploy Ciena’s 100G Solution to Upgrade FLAG Europe-Asia Submarine Network

By November 28th, 2012 AT 10:33 AM

Leading global provider of managed network and communication services for multinational enterprises and carriers, Reliance Globalcom, part of Reliance Communications has been known to use Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical Platform equipped WaveLogic coherent optical 100G networking solutions to upgrade its FLAG Europe-Asia (FEA) submarine network.

With Ciena’s OPn architecture 100G solution will add massive capacity, nearly 10 times more capacity to the route that connects Egypt and Jordan to support high bandwidth demand as in cloud computing, video conferencing, business continuity/disaster recovery, data center connectivity, and storage area networking, in addition to ever increasing Internet traffic.

This massive upgrade enables the launch of 10GE and OTU-2 services. The upgrade also enables Reliance Globalcom to provide 100GbE for their end customers as required.

Reliance Globalcom is using Ciena’s service for a time being. Earlier Reliance Globalcom deployed Ciena 100G solutions to power up European network. In 2011 Ciena deployed its two of 40G solutions on RG networks – one to support a 5,000 kilometer submarine link along two key routes connecting Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong, and the other to support a 6,400 kilometer ultra-long haul submarine link connecting the UK, Spain, Italy and Egypt.

10 times speed upgrade? Will consumers get at least 2 times speed upgrade?

Good to hear reliance has capacity to provide 100GbE to its enterprise customers.
