Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is now getting the stable MIUI 11 update in India. For the unaware, the Note 8 is part of the Phase 3 devices which were slated to get the update between November 13 and November 29. Other phones which are part of Phase 3 are Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 7A, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A. All the five phones which are part of the third phase are receiving the update now. Next up, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro will receive the MIUI 11 update sometime between December 18-26. In October, Xiaomi said that it would roll out MIUI 11 update to 28 smartphones before 2019, and so far, the company has rolled out the update to 27 smartphones, albeit the Redmi Note 8 Pro which will get the update this month. MIUI 11 update for Redmi Note 8 weighs around 666MB in size.

Redmi Note 8 MIUI 11 Update: How to Check

Similar to other Xiaomi phones released recently, the MIUI 11 stable update for Redmi Note 8 is based on Android 9 Pie and not Android 10. Currently, the only Xiaomi phone which is running Android 10 is the flagship Redmi K20 Pro. Other newly launched phones like the Redmi K20, Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro, Redmi 8 and so on are running Android 9 Pie itself.

Coming to the MIUI 11 update for Redmi Note 8, it weighs around 666MB in size and can be installed via over-the-air (OTA). Xiaomi says the update is rolling out in a phased manner and you may receive it in the next two-three weeks. Redmi Note 8 users can check for the update by heading over to Settings>About Phone>System Update. If there's any update, you can download and install it without any hassle as the official OTAs are mostly reliable. Alternatively, you can head over to Mi Community to download the MIUI 11 Recovery ROM to install it manually. For now, we would recommend you to install the update only when it reaches your phone because there might be some bugs as Xiaomi may postpone the OTA rollout if there are any major issues with the released version.

Xiaomi Rolls Out MIUI 11 Stable Update to 27 Smartphones

Xiaomi has done a commendable job this year by pushing MIUI 11 stable update to 27 smartphones so far. On October 16, Xiaomi confirmed that a total of 28 smartphones would get MIUI 11 by the end of 2019. When the list of phones was released by Xiaomi, everyone expected that the Chinese company would undoubtedly delay the rollout and make users wait for a more extended period than the promised dates.

Surprisingly, nothing as such happened as almost every device picked up the update before or during the promised dates. This is something exciting we got to see it for the first time from Xiaomi. With MIUI 10, the company took ages to get it running on its phones, but it solved that issue with MIUI 11 though. To recall, MIUI 10 was announced alongside Redmi Y2 in India back in June 2018, but the company took more than four months to get it running on its smartphone.

MIUI 11 was announced on October 16, 2019, and the first phone (Redmi K20) picked up the update on October 20 (four days later). Sadly, the update is based on Android 9 Pie or older Android iteration, but the MIUI 11 features like Dark Mode, new File Manager, new Tasks feature and so on are being added to older phones as well.
