Xiaomi is now pushing the MIUI 11 stable update to the Redmi Note 5 users in India. The update is based on Android 9 Pie, but not on Android 10 which is an expected thing as Xiaomi released MIUI 11 update based on Android 10 only to the Redmi K20 Pro so far. Majority of the Xiaomi phones including the newly launched ones like the Redmi Note 8 series, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A will get the Android 10 update sometime in 2020. MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 5 brings several new features like redesigned UI, Dark Mode, Game Mode, dynamic video wallpapers and so on. The update is being rolled out on a staged manner and it will take a few days to reach your smartphone.

MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 5 Also Adds October Security Patches
To recall, the Redmi Note 5 was launched in February 2018 alongside the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Notably, the Note 5 Pro also started picking up the MIUI 11 stable update last week and it’s time for the Redmi Note 5. It’s astonishing on how Xiaomi managed to roll out the MIUI 11 update to these many phones. Almost all the Xiaomi phones released since the start of 2018 have received the MIUI 11 update. Even the almost two-year-old Redmi Note 4 is getting the update too.
As always, the MIUI 11 update for the Redmi Note 5 is based on Android 9 Pie itself. While Xiaomi managed to deliver MIUI 11 to the majority of its phones, it did not update the Android iteration to the latest one, which is a sad thing. Only the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is currently on Android 10 and even the Redmi K20 is yet to get Android 10 update.
