Xiaomi Redmi 8A is all set to make its debut in India today at 12 PM and the smartphone will be a successor to the Redmi 7A that was launched just a few weeks ago. Xiaomi never refreshed its lineup so quickly, except in the case of Redmi Note 7 that was replaced by Redmi Note 7S just a few weeks after the official launch. The Redmi 8A is a major upgrade over the Redmi 7A, going by the features teased by Xiaomi itself. The smartphone will pack a teardrop notch display, 5000mAh battery, USB Type-C port, fast charging, Gorilla Glass 5, Sony IMX363 camera sensor and a decent selfie camera as well. Those features sound a lot for an entry-level smartphone, isn't it? Well, the phone is all set to launch in India later today and here's everything you need to about it.
Xiaomi Redmi 8A: Specifications We Know Right Now
Unlike the Redmi 7A, the Redmi 8A will feature a massive 6.2-inch HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Xiaomi says it would be the first phone in the segment to come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Xiaomi did not reveal the processor to be used on the Redmi 8A, but we're expecting it to be the same Snapdragon 439 SoC we last saw on the Redmi 7A. It's rumoured that the phone will come in three variants- 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. There will be a microSD card slot as well for storage expansion.
Moving onto the cameras, the Redmi 8A will have the Sony IMX363 sensor on the rear side and the camera app will offer AI Night and AI Portrait modes. On the front, we will get to see an upgraded camera setup this time around. There may be a 13MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calls.
Other confirmed specs of the Redmi 8A include 5000mAh battery with fast charging support and it will be the first phone in the segment to come with a USB Type-C port. The phone will run MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box.
