qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 4 leaks reveal

Qualcomm is soon expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile platform for OEM (original equipment manufacturer) customers. The chipset will likely be used for several flagship smartphones in 2025. The current generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is impressive, but it falls behind Apple's A17 Pro and MediaTek's Dimensity 9300 platforms marginally in computing. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 won't be a much bigger leap either in performance but will focus more on achieving better efficiency.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 platform will be built on TSMS's 3nm process node and will feature custom-designed Oryon cores. As per a leak from an X user negativeonehero, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's internal testing has revealed that the peak performance of its GPU is similar to that of Dimensity 9300 SoC, however, at half the power consumption. So you are likely to experience the devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 having a cooler temperature and longer battery life.

But focusing on the CPU, the leakster said that with the custom Oryon scores, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 delivered a multi-core score of around 7,300 at just 8W. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to show only a single-digit percentage improvement in CPU performance over the predecessor. Thus, users who prioritise CPU performance should likely wait for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to upgrade.

Regardless, in today's world, I would rather have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 kind of CPU performance, but with higher efficiency improving the battery life. Since the chipset has not been officially revealed, its official test results and performance are not known. Qualcomm has an event scheduled in India later this month, and the company is expected to make major announcements during the event. It will be interesting to see what's in store this time for the OEMs and the Qualcomm fans.
