Xiaomi will release the budget-centric Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5A smartphones by the end of this month or earlier September in China. The Redmi Note 5 will succeed the Redmi Note 4 smartphone, which is the best selling smartphone in India in Q2 2017. Last month, specifications of the Redmi Note 5 had leaked online, which are in-line with today’s leaked specifications on Weibo.

Let’s start with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 first. The Redmi Note 5 will feature the same 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. Xiaomi has been using the same Full HD panel since the Redmi Note 3, but the Chinese company increased the brightness levels in the phone.
The Redmi Note 5 could make use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset, which is an energy efficient octa-core chip. Xiaomi is looking to ditch the 2GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 5 because the leak suggests the phone to come in just 3GB and 4GB RAM versions with 32GB & 64GB internal storage. There will be a microSD card for storage expansion.
Previous rumours suggested that the phone will have a dual camera setup at the back, but this leak says that the company will have a 16MP primary camera, along with a 13MP front-facing shooter. Yes, finally Xiaomi is foraying into the selfie camera segment. The device will run Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 and could be backed by a smaller 3790mAh battery. The reason for the reduction of battery capacity in the Redmi Note 5 is unknown at the moment.
