TatSky the leading DTH operator has added two new Bengali HD channels on the auspicious occasion of the Bengali new year Pohela Boishakh. The channels 'Star Jalsha HD' and 'Jalsha Movies HD' are the brand new offerings of the Star Tv network. This is a step in the right direction to improve the quality of regional content consumption.

With this addition TataSky now offers a wide choice of 70 HD channels and services of which 61 are HD channels and 9 are HD services. TataSky has become the first Indian DTH provider to cross 60 HD channels.

We reported in Feb how TataSky added a bulk of 49 new SD channels to its arsenal and earlier this month they added 10 new HD channels and 14 new services (7 Showcase HD and 7 Showcase SD). Current offering of TataSky stands at 487 including 450 channels and 37 services (Star sports addon HD service is not counted separately).

TataSky is expected to launch even more channels in the coming weeks on account of the newly unlocked capacity of 12 transponders on Gsat 10. Currently TataSky is using 17 transponders combined through Insat 4A and Gsat 10.
