It turns out, Facebook has got bigger plans for the Messenger. After introducing voice calls, sharing photos, videos, maps, stickers, and many more features for the chatting platform, the social media giant has now included Dropbox File Sharing and Video Chat Heads.

Facebook Dropbox Sharing

To simplify, it means that you can now use Facebook Messenger app to send and preview Dropbox files. All you need to do is to tap ‘More’ button in Messenger app for iOS or Android, and you see Dropbox as an available source. With the Dropbox app installed on your phone, you can share any file in your Dropbox without having to leave the Messenger app.

The shared filed, be it videos, images, including animated GIFs, will be shown in the chats. For everything else, tapping Open will bring recipients of the message to the Dropbox mobile app, where they can preview and save files.

“We want people to communicate just the way they want to on Messenger, with everyone they care about,” said Stan Chudnovsky, head of product for Messenger. “Giving our users the ability to share their Dropbox videos and images in Messenger threads with just a few taps will help them bring more style and personality to those conversations.”

The users would need updated Messenger and the updated Dropbox app to get started. Grab Dropbox file from the app store and the Play store.

With that being said, the new video chat heads feature in Messenger is similar to the chat heads that appear floating on the display of your devices. The video chats will appear as a ‘circle’ on the display and the users can place these chat heads anywhere on the screen by holding and dropping it. The update is currently available only on Android, however, there is no word as to when the update will land on iOS platform.
