Chinese brand, Oppo will be soon bringing a new smartphone series to the Indian market, according to a new teaser by Flipkart. Oppo is aggressively launching new products in the Indian market since the second half of 2018 as the company's market share is not growing. Back in December, it brought the Oppo R series of phones- the R17 and R17 Pro to the sub-continent, and now, it's all set to bring a new series to the country. The teaser image by Flipkart did not reveal any information about the new series, but it says the upcoming phone from Oppo will offer 'Latest Tech at an Incredible Price,' which is the in-display fingerprint scanner. Remember the Oppo K1 smartphone that was unveiled at an affordable price in China last year? Well, Oppo is likely to launch the Oppo K1 handset in India in the coming weeks.

Oppo K1 With In-Display Scanner Under Rs 20,000?

As the teaser image suggests, Oppo will likely price the upcoming smartphone aggressively. Up until now, we haven't seen a smartphone with in-display fingerprint scanner under Rs 20,000 in India. In China, there are various phones with the latest fingerprint scanning technology for under 1,599 Yuan. To recall, the Oppo K1's base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage was launched in China at a price of 1,599 Yuan (approx. Rs 16,800).

Oppo is not known for launching pocket-friendly smartphones in India, but the Oppo K1 will likely retail under Rs 20,000 considering the specs it offers.

Oppo K1: Specifications and Features

Talking about the on-paper specifications of the Oppo K1, it sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and a whopping 91% screen-to-body ratio. Like the recently launched Oppo R17 series, the Oppo K1 also has a teardrop notch on the front which is how Oppo achieved higher screen-to-body ratio. Underneath the Oppo K1, we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. In India, Oppo could launch a 3GB+32GB variant of the K1 as well.

The Oppo K1 rocks two cameras on the rear side- a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.2 aperture paired with a 2MP sensor for capturing depth information. On the front, the phone has a 25MP selfie camera. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 out of the box. As for the connectivity options, it has Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a Micro USB port. The phone is backed by a 3600mAh battery and it has fast charging support as well.

In India, the Oppo K1 will take on the likes of Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 7.1 and Vivo V11 series of phones as the spec-sheet remains pretty identical to each other. At the moment, we don't have any information related to the smartphone's launch date and pricing. More official details from Oppo are awaited.
