Oppo Unveils ColorOS 6.0 UI But Says It Won’t Come to Phones Until 2019

Going in line with the rumour mill, Oppo has finally unveiled the ColorOS 6.0 at an event in Shenzhen on Thursday. The launch of the ColorOS 6.0 is to mark the software’s fifth anniversary. If you're an Oppo phone user, you'll know that ColorOS is an integral part of the handsets and has also contributed to making what Oppo is today. At the Shenzhen event, before unveiling the ColorOS 6.0, Oppo announced that ColorOS currently has nearly 250 million users across 140 countries and regions. Further talking about the ColorOS Oppo said that with the ColorOS has been successful in providing a secure and stable smartphone experience to users.

ColorOS 6.0 Not Coming Until Next Year

Yes, you read it right. Even though Oppo has unveiled the ColorOS 6.0, the company has said that it won't be available until 2019. This otherwise means that all Oppo phones coming this year and also next year will run the latest ColorOS 5.2.1. Although Oppo has decided to not bring the ColorOS 6.0 to its phones, the company did give an overview of it.

The company said that much like Xiaomi's own MIUI 10 and Samsung's recently announced One UI, the ColorOS 6.0 will also aim to offer a better navigating experience on big display phones. Oppo also highlighted that the ColorOS 6.0 would improve the overall performance of the high-end and entry-level Oppo phones.

ColorOS 6.0 Features

The ColorOS 6.0 as Oppo claims will bring a total of four fundamental design changes. First of them will be associated with the UI layout. Oppo says that ColorOs will revamp the overall UI layout and bring new text displays and icons to the phones. The ColorOS 6.0 update will come packed with an all-white design and progressive colour scheme. Additionally, the new ColorOS 6.0 is also expected to ship with Android 9 Pie.

The latest UI that Oppo is rolling out right now is ColorOS 5.2.1, which also comes with a range of new features. The ColorOS 5.2.1 brings the Hyper Boost technology, which is dedicated to optimizing the overall gaming performance of the phone and how social media apps work.

Oppo has also announced that together with the ColorOS 6.0 will come with a new font called the Oppo Sans. Additionally, a new text typesetting system will also come with the new ColorOS, which will aim to improve the reading experience for the users by reducing the visual fatigue.

Furthermore, the ColorOS 6.0 will also bring adjustments to the system cutscenes and enhance the animations. It also expected to come packed with a game sounder function and several sound templates. Realme smartphones will also get the ColorOS 6.0 update along with Oppo devices.
