The OnePlus 6 seems to just around the corner as per latest rumours, though there’s no official confirmation from the company. A report coming from Indian publication MoneyControl reveals a mid-May release for the flagship device. The Chinese phone maker is expected to launch the OnePlus 6 on May 18 in India. Alongside the tentative release date, the reports also indicate the pricing of the smartphone. The OnePlus 6 will likely start at a price of Rs 39,999. This is in contrast to previous reports that indicated that OnePlus 6 could start for Rs 34,000 for the 64GB version, while a high-end model with 128GB of onboard memory will go for Rs 39,000.
Though OnePlus has not confirmed the Indian launch date, the report could turn out to be true. A report earlier indicated the OnePlus 6 would go official in China on May 5. The Chinese company may release the OnePlus 6 in their home country first before the phone makes it to other overseas markets like India.
The company meanwhile has been teasing their upcoming flagship for quite some time now. On Thursday, OnePlus announced a partnership with Marvel Studios to celebrate its 10th anniversary with upcoming Infinity Wars movie. The Chinese handset maker also confirmed they would releasing an Avengers: Infinity War themed OnePlus 6.
Last week OnePlus released a teaser hinting their phone will come with water-resistant capabilities. In a teaser video posted on Twitter, the company asks: “Don't you just hate it when you have to stop using your phone when it rains? So do we.”
OnePlus also confirmed that it would keep up with latest Android design trends and come sporting like iPhone-X like screen notch design. The company CEO Pete Lau revealed that users would also have the option to hide the screen notch by blacking out the sides of the screen when in landscape mode.
Earlier, OnePlus had confirmed the flagship was to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. Reports have indicated that the OP6 will launch in two variants similar to the older OnePlus 5T. The cheaper variant will come with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the high-end version will sport hefty 8GB RAM along with 128GB of storage. Both the models are expected to hit Indian markets but the phone will Amazon exclusive as always.
