OnePlus TV Users Can Now Watch Netflix Content, New Remote Also Available for Free

OnePlus TV which was launched earlier this year in the premium segment, did not come with Netflix app, but now the app has come on the TV

Highlights
  • Existing OnePlus TV users will get the Netflix app through update
  • The new OnePlus TV users will get the app preinstalled
  • The remote for OnePlus TV now also comes with a dedicated Netflix button

One of the most prominent releases from OnePlus this year has not been a smartphone, but a TV. In the second half of this year, the Chinese manufacturer announced the launch of the OnePlus TV in India which became the first region across the world to witness the launch of the OnePlus TV. If you are even remotely aware of OnePlus’ ecosystem, then you probably know that a large part of OnePlus experience relies on the software that the company ships with its products. This is also true for OnePlus TV as well. Now, back in October, OnePlus had released one of the first updates for the OnePlus TV which brought fixes to HDR content and more. However, there was one thing which was missing from OnePlus TV all this while, and it was support for Netflix. Being a big streaming service, Netflix remains one of the most demanded platform across all devices. Hence, the OnePlus TV users were also in this line and were waiting for Netflix support on their TVs. But, the wait is finally over for OnePlus TV users as OnePlus has today announced a new update for the OnePlus TV which brings Netflix support on the TV.

OnePlus TV Now Comes with Netflix App

OnePlus has noted that for the existing users of the OnePlus TV 55 Q1 and OnePlus TV 55 Q1 Pro TVs, the Netflix application will be made available through a new update. Whereas for the new buyers of these TVs, the Netflix application will be available pre-installed. Not only this, but OnePlus has noted another thing which the users of OnePlus TV will appreciate.

Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India said about this new update, “We at OnePlus have always sought to provide the best possible technology on all our devices. Over the years, Netflix has played an important role in bringing an unmatched viewing experience on our smartphones. The association opens up a whole new world of possibilities, empowering storytellers on Netflix to expand into a whole new avenue for delivering diverse stories.”

OnePlus TV Remote Also Gets a Revamp With Netflix Button

To recall, one of the most highlighted things about the OnePlus TV was its minimalist remote design which comes in an aluminium casing. However, the remote did not use to come with a dedicated Netflix button, when the TV had first debuted in India. But, in this new release, OnePlus has also noted that the OnePlus TV remote will now come with a dedicated Netflix button as well which would allow the users to open Netflix and access their favourite shows directly. This way, OnePlus is also offering a new remote to the users as well. The existing OnePlus TV users will be able to get the new remote for free. They would simply have to find the Serial Number of their OnePlus TV, which they would be required to enter in the Account Center. After this, the invitation code which the users get can be redeemed to get a free Netflix remote. But, with the new OnePlus TV remote which comes with Netflix, the users should note that the designed has been changed a lot and it no more comes with the aluminium casing which the OnePlus TV remote was previously available with.

Offers on OnePlus TV

OnePlus in its release has also noted about some of the offers which will be available on the OnePlus TV and these would include instant cashback up to Rs 5,000 on all HDFC credit and debit card transactions for buying the OnePlus TV. There will be cashback of Rs 6,000 if you purchase the OnePlus TV from Amazon Pay. You would also be eligible to get an additional Rs 3,000 off on purchase of OnePlus TV with the exchange. There is also the option of no-cost EMI for 24 months.

You know what an average joe would like? A picture of the new remote. Even better, photos of both the old and the new remote side by side so that they can have an idea of the said changes.

A text only post along with a generic looking image doesn’t appeals to the masses.

Try to change your post styles. Instead of just quoting texts try to provide more visual informations, direct links to online stores, official websites, sources, etc.

Thanks, Arnab. Noted. Will take of such small things going forward 🙂
