OnePlus One 64GB variant to be launched in India below Rs. 25,000

OnePlus OneThe OnePlus One smartphone, endorsed by the company as the ‘flagship killer’, will allegedly be priced below Rs. 25,000 in India for its 64GB variant.

As per the report, published on Saturday, Carl Pei, Director of OnePlus Global, has said that the 64GB variant of the OnePlus One will be launched within a price slab less than Rs. 25,000 in India.

In an e-mail to the Indian Express, Pei said, “Globally, our margins are exceedingly slim and this will also be true for India. There is a cost of doing business overseas but we will still honour our original business model. Right now, we can say that the 64GB One will sell for less than Rs. 25,000,” he said.

Interestingly, the OnePlus One is available in two storage variants, 16GB and 64GB. The smartphone is priced at $299 (roughly Rs. 18,300) unlocked and without the contract for the 16GB variant, and $349 (roughly Rs. 21,350) for the 64GB variant. The company will also be giving away the latest JBL E1+ Earphones, along with the phone, at a discounted rate of $24.99 (roughly Rs. 1,530) while the original cost is $39.99.

OnePlus has also made it clear, that the device will be available in India via invite-system, in order to buy the device, interested users will have to display their interest on the forum or via company’s social media handles.

The company also booked the pre-orders for 1 hour globally on October 27. Although, due to various hindrance, in that 1 hour slot of pre-booking, the company said that it will again offer users a second chance to pre-order the smartphone on November 17, at 3pm GMT (8am PST or 11am EST or 8.30pm IST).

However, in the upcoming pre-booking sale, company promises to allocate more servers, so as to execute the process glitch free and also to fetch some time to update their inventory. The time line for the November 17 pre-order sale has been confirmed yet. To order the handset, users need to visit the exclusive OnePlus pre-order website. The users would be required to create OnePlus account before pre-ordering the device.

Also, the company also announced a week ago, that it has appointed Vikas Agarwal for the position of General Manager for OnePlus India, job posting for the same designation was published by the company in August.

Full specifications of One plus are not given in this note. Cost is also not known. Booking of this smartphone is not with simple procedure. It has been made very complicated and common man can not book it on his own. Why all mobile companies are not following simple procedures for public as everybody is not having internet and moreover knowledge of its operation.

If you can read this article & comment on it, then you have at least the basic internet access, knowledge & skill to get to know the specs of the phone. Invites to buy the phone are being given out by people on the oneplus forums. I’ve been able to get 3 phones already. So stop cribbing that you’re not given the phone on a platter. Else, be satisfied with whatever device you’re using. It’s a great phone at a great price. There is bound to be a waiting period, since production capacities are still not that high.
